Ghxstie is a multi's mediums blend her parallel careers into an intricate web of storied visual pleasure. Decades in the making, she began the journey with Jim Hensen, the Cosby Show, anime, and Black art festivals; as a child. She shares her love for creating art with her Uncle Robby, learned Zine making from her mother, and gained an appreciation for tech from her father. She often received low scores in art class, as she found realism restrictive, but that did not deter her. Art workshops after school, choir, orchestra, and a health dose of punk actives, allowed her to stretch past the confines of solid lines. Her teen years were spent indulging in salons held at her family home, and helping her aunt vend art pieces at conferences. These foundational experiences serve as the center of the web, and stain her art and perspective with rich colors and vibrant textures that can be seen in all of her pieces.

Ghxstie studied film in Philadelphia, Tokyo, and Los Angeles, and finished -thus far- with a BA degree in Film and Media Arts -from Temple University. Post graduation she spent much of her career honing her skills in Photography and photography collage, directing indie shoots, and PA-ing on commercial film sets throughout NYC. During the pandemic she took a leap of faith and started building her own art publishing house, called WildOrb22; testing the bounds/potential of the web 3 space for film. She started the first ever cult film DAO on the Polygon blockchain -called Nostalgia DAO- which operated for two years as a space for fanatics and creatives to convene. In 2023 the project disbanded -due to founder disagreements- but the journey was enough to inspire two more attempts, and a restructuring of the concept.

In 2024, Ghxstie transitioned her career focus from film to art, she began to realize the deepening of censorship, and digital castes, forming in her country. This deeply unsettling discovery inspired inner contemplation on why art is created; and it's purpose in our lives. Introspection yielded as artist breakthrough -in both technique and purpose- and developed a new and refined agenda for her practice. After a bit of rest and rebuild, she spent 2025 shifting the priorities of her budding publishing house to focus on making art more accessible to all. The DAO will be reinstated, by Winter 2026, and with similar intent and priorities, but with a new name and possibly a physical space. Look out for more details on that adventure!

Ghxstie's work is ethereal and hauntingly spiritual -hence her title. With a deep appreciation for death, rebirth, dreams, and life's mysteries, her works detail the interplay of life cycles, and Self evolution, showcasing cathartic moments of her personal journey. She accomplishes this with high contrast, saturated colors, and by creating a haze or blur-like effect in her work. Raw authenticity is balanced with sensuous intimacy to reveal depth and beauty in deep gothic concepts. This manifests visually captivating, and emotionally resonant, pieces that invite viewers to explore the depths of their own inner worlds. Her work is inspired by Black artists like George Hunt, Laurie Cooper, Leroy Campbell, LaShun Beale, Charles Bibbs, and Brooke Shaden, to name a few.

It took many trips into gardens, parks, and unknown wooded spaces to create the finished works in Ghxstie's portfolio. The photography is first shot on a Nikon digital camera, out in a random inspiring location. Very few of the photos taken go further than the original snap, but are kept in storage for a yearly harvest. If selected, once selected, they are edited as a final piece or prepared to take their place in a greater composition. The surreal and abstract art pieces are made by manipulating and collaging the prepped photography together. Ghxstie then adds digital paint and vectors for haze and ethereal texture, or finishing touches. Programs such as Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, and Affinity Photo are used to manipulate the images. The photographs used in each piece are a build up of photo made artworks, or textures, Ghxstie has taken and altered over time; some even dating as far back as 2008. With each piece one can follow the evolution of Ghxstie's growth as an artist, but enjoy the same rich palette of colors. And while the focus of her current surreal works are digital illustrations -of which she hand draws on a tablet- the same photographs are used to build the worlds around those illustrations.

In the art world Ghxstie is known for her surreal abstracts and photography work, but as a filmmaker she writes and directs experimental & narrative thrillers -in feature and series length. These worlds collide in her latest book "Amerilita"; a 'magical girl' story about a 13,000 year old Black woman that finds herself in the middle of an alien war over Earth's future. The original work was written in 2024, but a 2nd edition will be available to purchase summer -2027.
